Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />1.Oversees the development of the Survey Records Geographic Information System (GIS) used by <br />staff, private surveyors, agencies, and the public for the location, retrieval, and reproduction of <br />survey related maps and other GIS stored information. <br />2.Performs and oversees input, indexing, storage, retrieval and protection activities for thousands of <br />individual documents, drawings, field books and other records within the GIS system. <br />3.Plans, coordinates and performs quality control review of GIS survey record input by outside <br />providers and staff in the current and planned modules and insure their roll out. <br />4.Uses and/or assists in the operation of office computer systems and software, including but not <br />limited to, GIS, ArcInfo, ArcView, MapObjects, Imaging Systems, Access, Word, Excel and email. <br />5.Performs complex calculations and serves as lead survey technician in the checking of surveys <br />and partitions in the office, along with subdivisions plats in the office and field for conformance to <br />survey standards and input integrity in GIS system. <br />6.Assists with filing, maintaining records; making blueprints and copies; and other miscellaneous <br />duties as required. <br />Field Survey Activity <br />1.Serves as a lead survey technician for "Land Surveying Work" exercising independent judgment in <br />performance of control surveys, land surveys, topographic surveys, road right-of-way surveys, <br />construction surveys, measurement of quantities, corner restoration and other work as required. <br />2.Provides guidance, technical expertise, work review and training of other survey technicians. <br />3.Organizes, plans and schedules work assignments. <br />4.Performs more complex technical work, such as but not limited to: giving input on all points of <br />survey procedures; following and evaluating GLO and survey notes, maps, and corner restoration <br />notes to locate government corners and/or other survey monuments; performing monumentation <br />and related note keeping; and prepares detailed reports and maps for survey projects; prepares <br />legal descriptions for right-of-way acquisition. <br />5.Assists the public and professional surveyors in researching public survey records. Performs <br />detailed researches of records for information related to survey projects; and updates and files <br />survey records. <br />6.Performs complex survey computations using programmable calculator and PC; accesses and <br />uses computer applications related to surveying. <br />7.Checks surveys, partitions, and subdivisions of other surveyors for conformance to survey <br />standards. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Two (2) years of college course work in surveying; AND <br />2.Four (4) years of responsible experience in field and/or office survey work or records management; <br />OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess a current Oregon Driver's license, and possess and maintain an acceptable driving <br />> <br />record. <br />Must be currently enrolled as a Land Surveying Intern in the State of Oregon or hold a certification <br />> <br />as Land Surveyor-In-Training. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Considerable knowledge of: surveying and the requirements to complete the survey, both in the field and <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
