<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Dispatch Center <br />Coordinator <br />Class Code: <br />455 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$17.82 - $23.85 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br /> Non-Exempt06 Administrative SupportPublic Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Receives complaints, operates radio communications equipment to dispatch mobile units; monitors and <br />responds to calls of equipment and county road problems; maintains safety-related records and <br />department dispatch logs; works long hours and shift work during critical incidents and emergency <br />situations; and performs related work as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of a Senior Office Manager who reviews overall work for effectiveness and <br />conformance to department policies and procedures. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class. However, incumbents may <br />exercise lead direction over other clerical and general office staff. <br />DISTINGUISHING FEATURES <br />The Dispatch Center Coordinator is a single family job classification. The work requires journey level <br />administrative skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple communication modes; and provides <br />essential monitoring and coordination during critical incidents or emergencies. Assignments are routine <br />with periods of complexity and are performed with little supervision; requires the use of independent <br />judgment and highly developed decision making skills. <br />The Dispatch Center Coordinator is distinguished from the Department Specialist series by the specialist <br />nature of the communication modes. Though comparable in the level of responsibility of the Department <br />Specialist 3, the duties performed are dissimilar. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Operates standard office equipment, including radio, phone, audio visual (AV) equipment and <br />utilization of various computer applications to dispatch appropriate personnel and equipment to <br />work sites as necessary or as directed, based on factors of safety, urgency, work schedules and <br />proximity of available crew to site locations; and relays messages between units as needed. <br />2.Notifies field units of locations of accidents, complaints, blockages and need for general road <br />maintenance, road construction or emergency services and dispatch assistance; informs police <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
