1.0 INTRODUCTION
•
• These plans and specifications describe the proposed new sewage treatment system components for St.
Innocent Winery located at 10052 Enchanted Way SE,Jefferson,in Marion County,Oregon(Site). This
package;along with any changes required by Marion County in their plan approval letter or permit will
constitute the approved plans and specifications for construction of the system.
2.0 PROJECT ROLES
• St.Innocent Winery(Owner)—Primary point of contact for coordinating access, power supply,
private utilities(known and discovered), disposition of excess soils, etc.
• Installation Contractor(Installer)—Responsible for installing the components outlined in the plans
and specifications and coordinating inspections with Designer,as outlined in subsequent sections
of this document.
• Marion County Building Inspection(Regulator/Inspector)—Responsible for reviewing the plans,
administering the permit, inspecting the system, addressing regulatory questions, and system
certification.
• Cascade Earth Sciences(Designer/Inspector)—Primary point of contact for questions related to
the work outlined in this package.Responsible for supplementary inspections, and system start-up,
as outlined in subsequent sections of this document.
_ 3.0 SYSTEM COMPONENTS
•
St.Innocent Winery is proposing to construct a building that will house a tasting room to accommodate
guests for wine tastings and small events with meals. The winery is expected to have a maximum capacity
of 150 visitors per day during the peak tasting season. Special dinner events may involve as many as 40
guests.Along with eight employees, the base design flow for a peak day is 1,170 gallons. As proposed,
the drainfield will have a design capacity(peak day)of 1,350 gallons per day(gpd)and the treatment
system will have a design capacity of 1,500 gpd. The peak flow limit for the system, as designed,is 1,350
gpd, which is 180 gpd larger than the stated basis and would allow for several more tasters and/or
somewhat larger dinner events than currently anticipated.
The proposed system will include installing an assembly of tanks, a treatment system, and drainfield. The
primary treatment system will consist of a 1,500-gallon kitchen septic tank and, a 1,500-gallon primary
septic tank,in parallel. The effluent from the two septic tanks will flow into a common gravity effluent
sewer pipe for transfer to the proposed surge dosing tank and treatment system. An existing 1,000-gallon
septic tank serving an existing log house(not intended for occupancy)will be plumbed to feed into the
effluent sewer line leaving the proposed new septic tanks.A 1,500-gallon surge-dosing tank will contain a
duplex screened pump assembly to convey effluent to the advanced treatment system in small doses
around the clock. The treatment system will be a MicroFAST 1.5 housed in a 2,000-gallon tank.Treated
effluent will be conveyed to the drainfield by gravity from the treatment system. The drainfield is
proposed to consist of 450 linear feet(LF)of soil absorption trenches. The drainfield will consist of five
90-foot trenches aligned on the contour in a serial distribution configuration. Each trench will be equipped
with a monitoring port at the distal end to enable easy access to assess the hydraulic conditions within the
trench.
L_i
CES-Albany,OR St.Innocent Winery and Tasting Room I P&S
Doc:2018240028 St.Innocent Winery Plans&Specs May 2018 I Page 1
