All risers shall be appropriately oriented,consistent with logical positioning of plumbing and electrical <br /> penetrations,and attached to the tank top.The inlet(s)and outlet(s)shall be plugged and the tank filled <br /> with water.Pre-soaking concrete tanks for 24 hours is advised.The water level shall be two inches deep in <br /> the riser(above the exterior tank top)at the beginning of the water tightness test.CAUTION:Filling of <br /> the tank(s)shall be monitored closely to assure that no more than two inches of water is allowed to <br /> accumulate above the tank top.Pressure beyond this specification may compromise tank integrity and <br /> may require tank replacement at no cost to the Owner.No more than one gallon shall exfiltrate in a 24- <br /> hour period. <br /> Field repairs may be attempted once for observed sources of minor leakage. If the tank cannot be made <br /> watertight,then it shall be replaced at no expense to the Owner.Upon passing the water tightness test, <br /> backfilling shall be completed as described in the approved plans.Final grading of the finished surface <br /> shall assure that water does not accumulate around the risers or manhole covers.Each tank located <br /> adjacent to roadways or parking areas shall be protected from vehicular traffic by an adequate barrier <br /> (either locally available boulders or steel bollards filled with concrete and painted bright yellow). Excess <br /> soil from the excavations shall be managed on Site at a location designated by the Owner.Drawings of <br /> any approved"as built"changes noting pertinent dimensions,reference points, and elevations shall be <br /> provided to the Inspector by the Installer. <br /> 5.4 MicroFAST® 1.5 Unit and Accessories <br /> Materials <br /> The treatment unit,blower assembly,and controller shall be manufactured to the functional specifications <br /> shown in the plans and the DEQ-approved drawings. If the manufacturer has changed the specifications, <br /> the Designer must be notified in writing. The manufacturer's local representative will assist with the <br /> installation. Since the pretreatment system is an integral part of the design,no substitutions will be <br /> allowed. <br /> Workmanship <br /> The pretreatment system and related appurtenances shall be installed in accordance with the <br /> manufacturer's instructions,the approved plans and all appropriate electrical codes.Placement,assembly, <br /> and installation shall be conducted to facilitate easy operation,maintenance,repair,removal and <br /> replacement.All components shall be clearly marked in a permanent and professional manner,consistent <br /> with the design,to facilitate identification,monitoring,and troubleshooting.The Installer shall retain a <br /> licensed electrician where necessary and will be responsible for obtaining the necessary electrical permits <br /> and inspections.Copies of all permits,inspection reports,panel diagrams,and drawings of any approved <br /> "as built"changes shall be provided to the Inspector by the Installer. <br /> 5.5 Controls and Alarms <br /> Materials <br /> The control and primary alarm panel shall be manufactured to the functional specifications shown in the <br /> plans.If the manufacturer has changed the specifications,the Designer must be notified in writing.
