Each pressure lateral must have at least one
inspection port with minimum diameter of 4 inches. A barrier to prevent burrowing animals
from entering the absorption chambers is required.
AN EFFLUENT LIFT PUMP WILL BE REQUIRED to install the septic system disposal field in the
approved area and at the required depth. Detailed instructions for dosing tank/effluent pump
installations are available in our office. The electrical wiring to the pump and alarm must be
installed in accordance with the appropriate Electrical Code. The electrical work must be done
under a Marion County Electrical Permit and must be inspected and approved by a Marion County
Electrical Inspector. Pumping every 3 to 5 years is
an average interval.
THE APPROVED SEPTIC SYSTEM AREA MUST BE PROTECTED from any vehicular traffic,
livestock and farming activities. Other activities such as excavating or filling, driveway placement,
paving or other similar activities that alter the natural soil conditions will adversely affect the soil
and the septic system function and lead to premature system failure. The area must not be
subjected to excessive saturation due to artificial drainage of ground surfaces, driveways, building
downspouts or other sources. The areas of the initial septic system and the future repair system
must both be protected.
1/16/19:4:17:17PM Page 5 of 6 ONS_OnsitePermit_pr
