<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Permit Specialist <br />Trainee <br />Class Code: <br />006 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$15.69 - $20.97 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br /> Non-Exempt 06 Administrative SupportPublic Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Performs a variety of clerical duties requiring considerable knowledge of laws relating to building permits; <br />performs related duties as required. <br />Upon satisfactorily meeting the experience and training requirements and knowledge, skills, and abilities <br />of the Permit Specialist classification, the employee will be promoted to the classification of Permit <br />Specialist. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of the Building and Planning Division Manager who assigns and reviews <br />work for conformance to departmental and legal requirements. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of employees is not a normal responsibility of positions in this classification. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Receives callers in person and by telephone; answers multiple telephone lines; transfers or refers <br />call to proper source; takes and delivers messages; answers routine questions by providing readily <br />available information; provides basic program information relating to county/department/division <br />services; makes basic interpretations of office policy to facilitate office operation/program <br />procedure or to convey information about services. <br />2.Meets and greets the general public and/or clients and directs individual to appropriate staff; <br />explains laws and regulations to the public relating to building inspection, fee assessment and <br />zoning; assists public in completing forms, permits and applications. <br />3.Uses computer system to retrieve information and provide data entry as required in processing <br />permits and inspections or in course of work; updates records; types technical records and <br />documents; composes and types pertinent correspondence. <br />4.Sets up and maintains files and indexes; collects building permit fees, processes receipts. <br />5.Takes inspection requests and relays requests, messages, and instructions to field inspectors <br />according to their workloads, time frame, and office policies. <br />6.Files and retrieves files, permits, and inspection documents, requires reaching and bending. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
