Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />7.Takes applications for permits, including building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, septic, <br />demolition, manufactured dwelling, and agricultural exemption; asks appropriate questions to <br />establish ownership, licensing, zoning, type of construction, individual construction problems, <br />reasonable value of project on which to assess fee; locates property on maps as required <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; AND <br />2.Within one (1) year of hire, to satisfactorily complete an in-house Building Inspection Code training <br />course; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENT <br />Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, conviction of a crime may not <br />> <br />necessarily disqualify an individual for this classification. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Working knowledge of: standard office practices and procedures. <br />Skill and ability to: manage multiple priorities with responsibility for multiple phone lines; communicate <br />effectively in oral and written form; establish and maintain professional working relationships with co- <br />workers, other agencies, contractors, owners, and the general public; read and interpret a variety of <br />plans, specifications, and maps relevant to the permit process; estimate construction values; understand <br />building terminology and apply as necessary; to accurately word process; maintain records and prepare <br />report; effectively operate computer equipment and software programs utilized by the county; and <br />accurately data enter. <br />ADOPTED: <br />04/77 <br />REVISED: <br />12/78; 01/83; 12/86; 12/88; 04/94; 02/98 retitled; 02/02; 09/05; 05/07; 04/08; 02/18 <br />MARKET REVIEW: <br />07/13; 12/18 <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br />
