<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Building Inspector 1 <br />Class Code: <br />102 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$24.09 - $32.30 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSAEEOCDepartment <br />: Non-Exempt : 01 Officials and Administrators : Public Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Inspects One and Two Family dwelling construction for compliance to State, County and local codes. <br />Performs other related work as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Building Official who outlines assignments and <br />reviews work through meetings and reports. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision is not a regular responsibility of positions in this class. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Authorizes work related to dwellings and other residential structures of all complexities. <br />2.Inspects material and workmanship of both new and remodeled residential building construction, <br />alterations, additions, and repairs for compliance to State, County and local codes. <br />3.Reviews construction plans for completeness and compliance with County codes and policies s <br />required to assist applicant. <br />4.Investigates and inspects alleged violations of residential building, plumbing, mechanical and <br />zoning codes; serves stop work orders; posts correction and mandatory notices. <br />5.Confers with public and assists them in the understanding and interpretation of residential building, <br />plumbing, mechanical, zoning, fire, and manufactured dwelling codes and standards. <br />6.Maintains records and compiles reports of inspection activities, inputs inspection results in <br />computer to update automated database. <br />7.Provides advice and guidance to individuals with limited building skills in order to assist such <br />persons in complying with applicable codes. <br />8.Appears in court to testify regarding dwelling building code requirements. <br />9.Positions in this class require extensive driving, possibly up to 200 miles per day. <br />10.Conducts plan reviews when assigned by Supervisor. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
