Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.One (1) year experience in the construction trades; OR <br />2.One (1) year of building code related course work; OR <br />3.One (1) year of building inspection or plan review experience in the specialty codes; OR <br />4.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Possess at time of hire an Oregon Residential Structural Inspector Certification or an International <br />> <br />Code Council Residential Building Inspector Certification and obtain an Oregon Residential <br />Structural Inspector Certification within six (6) months. <br />Possess at time of hire an Oregon Inspector Certification; or an Authorization to Perform Work <br />> <br />from the Oregon Buildings Code Division within 30 days and obtain a valid Oregon Inspector <br />Certification within six (6) months. <br />Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license. Must possess, at <br />> <br />time of hire, and maintain an acceptable driver's record. <br />Possession of a State of Oregon 1 and 2 Family Structural Inspector Certification or International <br />> <br />Code Council (ICC) Residential Building Inspector Certification; AND <br />Possession of a State of Oregon 1 and 2 Family Mechanical Inspector Certification or International <br />> <br />Code Council (ICC) Residential Mechanical Inspector Certification. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Considerable knowledge of building construction, materials, and methods; County and State building and <br />zoning laws and codes; building construction terminology and techniques. <br />Ability and skill to detect structural, fire/life safety and other violations; read and interpret plans and <br />specifications and to compare them with construction in progress; communicate effectively in both oral <br />and written form; establish and maintain professional and collaborative working relationships with <br />contractors, co-workers and the general public; prepare clear and concise reports; operate a motor <br />vehicle in safe and responsible manner; effectively operate computer equipment and software programs <br />utilized by the county; conform to technical and department standards and comply with department and <br />County policies and procedures. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS <br />Work is performed in a general office or field environment. Office work includes the use of a computer <br />using word processing, spreadsheet, permit tracking applications, and e-mail programs or programs <br />specific to the position. Fieldwork includes working in a variety of inclement weather conditions.
