Responsible for ensuring that <br />program goals, objectives, policy, and processes are being formulated, implemented, and carried out. <br />Performs advanced and/or complex technical engineering work. Provides technical direction and problem <br />resolution related to program services and activities. Ensures staff and program compliance with <br />applicable laws, regulations, policy and procedures. Performs other related work as assigned. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the Engineering Division Manager or the Director of Public <br />Works. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Responsible for the direct supervision of professional and technical employees in one or more functional <br />areas (sections) of the Engineering Division, such as design, construction inspection, land use or traffic <br />engineering. Participates in the selection of new personnel and consultants; facilitates employee training <br />and development programs; assigns work; evaluates performance; responds to grievances; takes <br />disciplinary action; and recommends personnel actions including hiring, discipline and termination. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Prepares or supervises the preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for public works <br />improvement projects, including structures, roads, storm drains and other projects requiring the <br />application of advanced engineering knowledge. Stamps engineering plans. Supervises or <br />reviews the design and drafting work of other engineers and technicians. <br />2.Supervises and/or inspects construction of major road improvements or drainage projects; directs <br />the work of inspectors; enforces adherence to plans and specifications by contractors. <br />3.For Federal Aid projects, prepares plans, specifications, and cost estimates; performs construction <br />contract administration and inspection according to State and Federal requirements. <br />4.Prepares or supervises preparation of environmental studies and documents; conducts related <br />public hearings. <br />5.Reviews proposed projects for conformance with applicable laws and other regulations. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
