Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Possession of, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Class C Oregon driver's license. If in <br />> <br />possession of a current out of state driver's license, must obtain Oregon driver's license within 30 <br />days of hire. <br />Possess and maintain an acceptable driving record. A copy of the driving record for all qualified <br />> <br />applicants will be obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles. <br />Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, conviction of a crime may not <br />> <br />necessarily disqualify an individual for this classification. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Knowledge of: modern civil and environmental engineering principles and practices, with special <br />reference to public works infrastructure at the level of local government; civil engineering materials and <br />methods of construction; special requirements of federal aid projects; principles of project management; <br />principles of roadway operations analysis; project funding sources and mechanisms; and the <br />fundamentals of effective public involvement. <br />Skill and ability to: design civil and environmental engineering projects; perform complex calculations; <br />prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates; effectively communicate in both oral and written form; <br />establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with engineers, planners, <br />developers, regulatory agencies, and members of the general public; engage in creative problem solving <br />and to blend theory with practical application; to plan, document, and execute a project plan or portions of <br />a larger complex project from inception to completion in accordance with project requirements; operate a <br />computer and engineering related computer software; operate a motor vehicle. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS <br />Work performed in a general office or field environment. Office work includes the use of a computer <br />using word processing, spreadsheet, databases, E-mail programs or programs specific to the position. <br />Fieldwork includes working in a variety of inclement weather conditions, sometime working in close <br />proximity to roadway traffic and construction equipment. Occasionally may traverse rough and uneven <br />terrain. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds of equipment. May be required to work flexible <br />schedules and long hours throughout the year, especially during construction season (May through <br />October).
