<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Corrections Health <br />Program Supervisor <br />Class Code: <br />276 <br />Bargaining Unit: 02 - Supervisory <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$2,536.80 - $3,399.20 Biweekly <br />$5,496.40 - $7,364.93 Monthly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Exempt02 ProfessionalsSheriff <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Supervises and administers the medical unit of the Marion County Corrections Facility, including provision <br />of nursing services, scheduling of unit staff, implementation of policies and procedures, and monitoring <br />and evaluating unit activities and practices; performs other duties as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the Corrections Division Commander; works under the medical <br />supervision of a responsible health authority/physician. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Exercises supervision over the nursing, pharmaceutical, dental, mental health, x-ray and lab staffs; <br />participates in selection of new personnel; provides for training; evaluates performance; responds to <br />grievances; recommends personnel transactions and develops work plans; takes steps to maintain <br />professional ethics and standards; ensures adequate medical coverage. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Supervises the provision of inmate medical services by the medical unit staff. <br />2.Supervises the medical unit staff, and provides orientation on unit and facility policies and <br />procedures; monitors staff performance; promotes staff development; conducts performance <br />evaluations; recommends hiring and firing of staff. <br />3.Coordinates and supervises the scheduling of unit services and programs, assuring appropriate <br />staff coverage on all shifts; assigns duties and professional responsibilities in compliance with <br />policies, established procedures, and state and federal guidelines. <br />4.Develops and reviews written program/unit policies and procedures; monitors operations to ensure <br />that program practices are in compliance with federal, state and agency standards, and that <br />program policies and procedures are current. <br />5.Provides direct inmate services as ongoing responsibility, and provides coverage for direct service <br />staff as appropriate.
