Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />8.Acts as professional liaison, representing the Department with community physicians, dentists and <br />other allied professions, and with the general public. <br />9.Serves as primary nursing resource for all County Corrections Facility inmates and acts as <br />consultant to nursing staff on difficult cases; consults with others as needed for problem solving of <br />medical and security issues. <br />10.Maintains knowledge of health care as it impacts inmates in a correctional setting; monitors health <br />records for compliance with informed consent rules and regulations. <br />11.Directs and monitors infection control; maintains liaison with dietary and commissary sections. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Four (4) year college degree in nursing from an accredited school with current certification in <br />professional nursing and three (3) years of responsible experience in health nursing, including at <br />least one (1) year supervisory experience; OR <br />2.Two (2) year college degree in nursing from an accredited school with current certification in <br />professional nursing and five (5) years of responsible experience in health nursing, including at <br />least one (1) year supervisory experience; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon. <br />> <br />Possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Class 4 Oregon drivers license. (May be <br />> <br />modified under exceptional circumstances.) <br />Will be subject to psychological examination and background investigation. <br />> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Comprehensive knowledge of: laws and guidelines governing the provision of nursing services in a <br />correctional facility; current nursing practices and procedures; philosophy and practices of the <br />Department of Corrections Nursing program; methods and techniques of effective staff supervision; the <br />procurement and maintenance of equipment and supplies used in nursing services. <br />Skill and ability to: apply nursing knowledge and principles within a correctional facility; provide training <br />on, and oversee the maintenance of, professional boundaries between staff and clients; utilize an <br />interdisciplinary approach to client care; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; recognize the <br />needs and concerns of people and maintain constructive relationships; accept and utilize administrative <br />direction and consultation. <br />ADOPTED: <br />07/88 <br />REVISED: <br />11/88; 04/96; 10/02; 07/04; 12/09 <br />MARKET REVIEW: <br />12/09; 05/16; 12/18 <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br />
