<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Environmental Health <br />Specialist 2 <br />Class Code: <br />541 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$25.69 - $34.45 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSAEEOCDepartment <br />: Non-Exempt : 02 Professionals : Health <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />This is a professional level environmental health specialist responsible for conducting surveys and <br />investigations and assisting in the planning, promoting and carrying out of a program for the improvement <br />of county and state environmental health standards and regulations as necessary to secure compliance <br />with public health laws and administrative rules, does related work as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under general supervision of the environmental health program supervisor or Specialist 3 who <br />makes assignments and reviews work for effectiveness of program and for adherence to law and <br />departmental procedures and policies. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />May exercise limited leadwork over Environmental Health Specialist 1 classification <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Consults with government officials, civic or service organizations, and the public for the purpose of <br />promoting adoption of location sanitation ordinances such as, the regulation of restaurants or food <br />handling, municipal garbage collection, and nuisance ordinances. <br />2.Inspects and reports on sanitation of private and semi-public water supplies; collects samples <br />regularly for bacteriological analysis from all types of supplies; promotes water supply <br />improvement; provides technical assistance on construction treatment and operations. <br />3.Organizes and conducts rodent and insect control programs including survey, control, and <br />treatment. Provide education to the public on vector control. <br />4.Investigates sanitary nuisance complaints. <br />5.Inspects garbage and sewage disposal methods, enforces regulations of the State and Federal <br />Housing Administration pertaining to private sewage disposal installations; gives advice on proper <br />installation of such facilities as delegated by state agencies. <br />6.Keeps accurate and complete records of inspections and activities; prepares reports and <br />recommendations; assumes administrative responsibilities for sanitation program, and does other <br />work as assigned by supervising public health manager or administrator. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
