Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />7.Inspects wells for location, ground formation, and construction; advises on cleaning methods for <br />wells, cisterns, and storage tanks. <br />8.Investigates school buildings for water supply, food service, general cleanliness, lighting, sewage <br />disposal, gyms and showers, laboratories, and washroom/toilet facilities. <br />9.Inspects food handling and service establishments for general cleanliness and sanitation and <br />compliance with state law and regulations. Trains food handlers and food service managers. <br />10.Inspects public swimming pools, spa pools, traveler's accommodations, organizational camps, and <br />RV parks for compliance with state laws and regulations and arranges for necessary <br />improvements in sanitary facilities. <br />11.Condemns merchandise and other material offered for sale or use in violation of sanitary <br />regulations; collects and preserves evidence; testifies in court and assists in preparing and <br />conducting legal proceedings and defenses. <br />12.Does plan reviews of public facilities for health and safety. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Bachelor's degree including at least 45 quarter hours, or 31 semester hours, in science <br />courses relating to environmental sanitation AND two (2) years full-time, paid experience in <br />environmental sanitation under the direction of a registered sanitarian; AND <br />2.Possess and maintain current Sanitarian's Registration and continuing education units as <br />required by the Sanitarian's Registration Act \[ORS 700.010 to 700.990\]. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess, at time of application, and maintain a valid Class C Oregon driver's license and <br />> <br />an acceptable driving record. <br />Must have own transportation. <br />> <br />Must possess and maintain proof of personal automobile liability insurance, at a minimum, in <br />> <br />the amount required by Oregon Law \[ORS 806\]. <br />Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, conviction of a crime may not <br />> <br />necessarily disqualify an individual for this classification. <br />Must be able to attain a Public Health Pesticide Applicators license from the Oregon <br />> <br />Department of Agriculture. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Thorough knowledge of modern methods, principles, techniques and practices of environmental health, <br />thorough knowledge of laws and administrative rules governing sanitation programs of the state; ability to <br />make thorough investigations, compile data and present clear, concise report; ability to promote <br />awareness of, and participation toward correction of public health problems among the general public; <br />ability to plan and organize work effectively; working knowledge of methods and equipment used by <br />industries and any other phase of the social structure in which the program is concerned.
