Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />8.Responsible for inventory management, Just-In-Time delivery, and the timely processing of <br />invoices. Establishes and maintains record keeping systems for the preventative maintenance <br />program and for inventory control. <br />9.Coordinates exchange of information between the road operations crews and the shop crews. <br />10.Establishes and administers a safety program which conforms to federal, state and local safety <br />and health requirements for all shop activities and employees. <br />11.Duties also include responsibilities for accident prevention, evaluating performance, providing <br />training, responding to grievances, recommending personnel transactions, compliance with EEOC, <br />Section 504, and other applicable federal, state and county regulations and policies. <br />12.Performs other related duties as assigned. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Associate degree or graduation from a technical school with course work closely related to the <br />repair and maintenance of construction equipment; AND <br />2.Four (4) years of experience as a mechanic, which includes two (2) years in repair and <br />maintenance of heavy construction equipment; AND <br />3.Two (2) years in a supervisory capacity, including responsibility for fleet and facilities management, <br />and for preparing and monitoring budgets; OR <br />4.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license. Must possess, at <br />> <br />time of hire, and maintain an acceptable driver's record. <br />Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, conviction of a crime may not <br />> <br />necessarily disqualify an individual for this classification. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Thorough knowledge of: the standard practices, materials and methods used in the repair and <br />maintenance of automotive and construction equipment; administrative and management procedures; <br />computer systems, purchasing procedures and regulations; effective office practices and property <br />inventory.
