Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />1.Develops plans and procedures for administration of the court program for supervision and <br />rehabilitation of maladjusted and delinquent minors; provides for training of staff members. <br />2.Confers with assistant director and supervisors, and guides them in problems and procedures <br />relating to the processing and quality of department work. <br />3.Confers with the Chief Administrative Officer, commissioners, and judge/referee concerning <br />policies and procedures; interprets policies. <br />4.Supervises preparation of departmental budget and maintains budgetary controls. <br />5.Answers public inquiries concerning departmental policies and administrative decisions; addresses <br />civic groups to explain the policies and goals of the County's programs for juveniles. <br />6.Assesses department facility needs, supervises facility planning process, provides information <br />regarding facility needs to county officials, other agencies and the public. <br />7.Maintains proactive relationship with news media relating to department functions and programs. <br />8.Works with schools, welfare agencies, institutions, police agencies and the District Attorney in <br />matters pertaining to youth. <br />9.Supervises preparation of daily, monthly and annual reports to the court and statistical agencies. <br />10.Monitors the activities of the Oregon Legislature and administrative bodies that are responsible for <br />public policy development and implementation relating to children and families; provides <br />information and advocacy. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Five (5) years of experience in juvenile justice system, including at least three (3) years of <br />supervision; AND <br />2.Master's degree in criminal justice/corrections or social work; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Extensive knowledge of: juvenile justice systems, family dynamics, and child development. laws <br />regarding dependent and delinquent children, treatment programs, management techniques, personnel <br />administration, performance appraisal, disciplinary processes and EEOC. <br />Skill and ability in: individual and group work with maladjusted children, adolescents and their <br />parents; training staff and working harmoniously with, supervising and coordinating the work of <br />subordinate employees; securing confidence and cooperation of community agencies, officials and other <br />staff. <br />ADOPTED: <br />01/74 <br />REVISED: <br />07/89; 02/96; 08/01; 11/03; 02/04; 01/05; 12/06 <br />MARKET REVIEW: <br />09/03; 12/05; 01/13; 2/14 <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br />
