<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Mechanic <br />Class Code: <br />433 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$21.28 - $28.51 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 07 Skilled CraftPublic Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Performs major repair work to gas and diesel automotive equipment and heavy construction equipment. <br />Performs any tasks of lower level classes in the automotive repair job series. Performs related work as <br />required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the direct supervision of the Fleet Shop Supervisor, or a lead worker who assigns work and <br />inspects work for conformance to automotive and department standards. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification; however, may <br />exercise lead direction over employees on an assigned job or project. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1. Performs major and minor work on automotive, road, and construction equipment. <br />2.Repairs transmissions, differentials and other gear boxes, making necessary replacements and <br />adjustments. <br />3.Grinds valves, sets tappets and push rods, adjusts and repairs steering gear and front end <br />assemblies; installs clutches and brake linings and makes necessary adjustments; inspects, <br />repairs and replaces defective parts as needed. <br />4.Fabricates special parts on various jobs; operates turning lathes in making new or replacement <br />parts. <br />5.Performs general automotive welding including sheet metal, using welding equipment as needed. <br />6.Keeps records of repairs made to equipment and provides this information to appropriate staff. <br />7.Performs inspections and maintenance using diagnostic equipment to make necessary repairs and <br />adjustments to all types of equipment. <br />8.Inspects and maintains automotive emissions control systems and electronic engines, <br />transmissions, and anti-lock brake systems. <br />9.Repairs hydraulic, pneumatic, pneumatic over HYD, air over HYD, and electric over HYD systems. <br />10.May take part in chemical hazard clean-ups, according to training given, for incidents on roads and <br />road-related properties. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
