Performs moderately complex equipment operation duties for road, bridge, <br />vegetation, sign making, ferry maintenance; nuisance control, landfill and transfer station maintenance <br />control and/or construction. Operates all equipment and performs all tasks of lower level classification <br />within this job series. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the direct supervision of a supervisor or other lead worker position, which assigns work, <br />observes performance and inspects work upon completion for conformance to road maintenance <br />standards. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions within this classification but duties may <br />include exercising lead direction over a small work crew <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1. Serves as flagger on road maintenance crews; directs traffic around hazards or crews in the <br />roadway; sets out temporary road signs, traffic cones, and barricades at work sites. <br />2. Operates pilot vehicles. <br />3. Performs substantial, arduous labor that includes ditch digging, maintenance and repair of culverts, <br />removing debris from roadway and shoulders, preparing and repairing potholes and pavement, and on <br />and off loads of tools, equipment, and materials. <br />4.
