<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Nutrition Specialist <br />Class Code: <br />584 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$17.06 - $22.83 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br /> Non-Exempt 05 ParaprofessionalsHealth and Human Services <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Independently performs a variety of responsible administrative support activities to promote and maintain <br />effective program services, according to established practice and procedures; performs related work as <br />required. <br />Performs client assessments to include anthropometric measurements, hemoglobin screening and basic <br />nutritional assessment, counseling, and education to individuals with low or medium risk nutrition <br />concerns and for small groups in clinical and community settings; assists professional staff as assigned. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of a program supervisor. Receives direction from coordinator / lead staff <br />member who assigns work and reviews results for compliance to department and state policies and <br />effectiveness. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification; however, may <br />provide training and give instruction to new staff, volunteers, interns, or students. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />The role of the Nutrition Specialist combines a variety of skills to provide client services. This includes <br />communicating with clients on the phone and in person as they enter our service area. Employees in this <br />classification complete a series of basic and specialized training modules within first six months of hire. <br />Employees in this classification utilize materials developed by the Nutrition Educator and/or Coordinator <br />and refer higher nutrition risk clients to the Registered Dietitian (Nutritionist). Directions, rules, and <br />procedures are provided in written or oral form, and work assignments are periodically checked for <br />compliance with guidelines and instructions.
