<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Payroll Specialist <br />Class Code: <br />030 <br />Bargaining Unit: 12 - Confidential/Non- <br />Management <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$24.50 - $32.84 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br /> Non-Exempt06 Administrative SupportFinance <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Performs a variety of technical and administrative assignments in support of Finance and Payroll. This is <br />an intermediate level position. Duties include specialized accounting work of a complex nature, maintains <br />payroll and other fiscal records related to deferred compensation, income tax withholding, garnishments, <br />various insurances, workers compensation, and union deductions; serves as a technical expertise to <br />department heads, managers, supervisors, employees and other agencies; performs other related duties <br />as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the Finance Accounting Manager, or designee, who assigns <br />work; reviews performance and measures results. Employee is expected to exercise a level of <br />independence combined with professional judgment related to established policy, procedures and <br />guidelines. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. However, may <br />help in training other employees or department representatives. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Applies thorough knowledge of automated payroll system, and all system screens, in preparing <br />biweekly payroll for all employees. <br />2.Manages workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely; and <br />audits data that has been inputted into the system by checking it against generated reports. <br />3.Corrects time reporting changes or errors, calculating the correct pay amount, leave balances, <br />retirement calculations, union, FICA, workers compensation, unemployment and disability <br />amounts; and processes any changes in employee voluntary deductions. <br />4.Processes garnishments, federal and state liens on wages and support orders received on <br />employees; responsible for timely and accurate disbursement of the withholdings. <br />5.Computes and processes pay, leave requests, over payments, and final paychecks. <br />6.Responsible for computation and electronic processing of semi-weekly tax deposits, and <br />corresponding balancing spreadsheets. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
