Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />judgment by seeking consultation with a mental health specialist or public health medical staff when <br />needed and keeps the supervisor well informed of progress via verbal and written reports. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.In partnership with a public health nurse or other experienced worker, helps individuals and <br />families identify strengths, needs and achieve goals. <br />2.Shares culturally appropriate, department-approved health education and information with <br />individuals and families; assists in development of educational materials. <br />3.Helps individuals and families learn to use the health care system appropriately and effectively. <br />4.Helps individuals and families learn to access social services. <br />5.Acts as advocate on behalf of clients, if necessary, in qualifying for and receiving social and/or <br />medical services. <br />6.Refers clients to appropriate social service agencies as needed; coordinates agency referrals; <br />provides transportation for clients to appointments if needed; communicates information regarding <br />each client's care plan and progress to other agencies involved in overall care. <br />7.Conducts pre-approved health-screening and intake procedures and documents. <br />8.Performs clinic tasks such as venipuncture, urine test, specimen labeling, prepares specimens for <br />transport, for example, and documents. <br />9.Performs daily quality control tests for lab equipment. <br />10.Cleans, disinfects, wraps and sterilizes medical instruments. <br />11.Assists Nurse Practitioners with routine surgical procedures. <br />12.Develops and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of team members and client's <br />natural supports. This may include: public health nurses, health educators, other public health <br />staff, mental health specialists and associates, department specialists, clergy, peer supports and <br />others. <br />13.Maintains necessary, timely and accurate written documentation of all activities. <br />14.Participates in meetings relative to provision of services. <br />15.May act as interpreter for clients and the health care system. <br />16.Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required. <br />17.May make field visit to assist client with basic life activities such as grocery shopping. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from high school or GED; AND <br />2.One (1) year of employed or volunteer experience working with the culture of the client population <br />served by the position; OR <br />3.One (1) year of college training in health occupations or social sciences; OR <br />4.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Proficiency in both the English language and the preferred language of the client population served <br />> <br />by the position. <br />If the position requires driving must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Class C <br />> <br />Oregon driver's license.
