Coordinates <br />technical support for telecommunications projects. Performs full range of installation, maintenance and <br />repair of telecommunications hardware and software including cabling and equipment repair. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of an Information Technology Manager or designee who assigns <br />work, establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness through the analysis of <br />performance, reports and conferences. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. However, acts as lead <br />worker over the Telecommunications Technician and Telecommunications Apprentice positions. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Performs duties outlined in the Telecommunications Technician, as required. <br />2.Provides training, assigns and reviews work, and prioritizes assignments for Telecommunication <br />Technicians and apprentices. Provides input to performance evaluations; arranges for work <br />coverage during absences and provides backup support as needed. <br />3.Designs and installs equipment requests. Participates in drafting specifications, plans quotes and <br />contracts; analyzes system impact, cost effectiveness and service integrity. Pursues traffic design <br />and utilization efficiency of switches, subsystems and instruments. <br />4.Oversees equipment maintenance and safety procedures. <br />5.Monitors materials inventory and oversees purchase of supplies and equipment. <br />6.Supports and facilitates the department's mission to provide efficient, responsive and quality <br />service to customers and clients. <br />7.Works closely with the public, managers, supervisors and staff from other departments and <br />agencies.
