Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />9.Represents the department and/or county in meetings relating to citizen participation; maintains <br />positive public relations through contacts with community businesses, private and public <br />foundations, and other appropriate community resources. <br />10.Gathers and maintains data, analyzes, evaluates and provides regular reports to management on <br />all aspects of volunteer programs to determine if present methods are adequate and effective. <br />11.Works closely with emergency management and community agencies to facilitate the effective <br />coordination of volunteers during a community-wide emergency. <br />12.Develops and conducts volunteer management training and other related topics county staff and <br />key volunteers. <br />13.Serve on committees, recruit volunteers, work with local volunteer groups and make appearances <br />to promote county emergency response planning programs and planning. <br />14.Actively participate as a key member of the county emergency response team(s) and/or committee <br />(s) for a collaborative and integrated approach to emergency management. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from a four (4) year college or university with major course work in the behavioral or <br />social sciences, or in public or business administration; AND <br />2.Two (2) years of experience in program and community development, preferably including <br />experience coordinating the activities of volunteers; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Possession of a valid Oregon Driver's license, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. <br />> <br />Possession and maintenance of an acceptable driving record. <br />> <br />Possession of first aid and CPR certifications, or ability to obtain within 180 days (six months) of <br />> <br />hire. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY <br />Considerable knowledge of: program planning, development and coordination related to volunteer and <br />community relations programs; <br />Ability to: develop, implement and maintain a centralized volunteer program; communicate effectively <br />both orally and in writing; provide technical assistance to departments, government agencies, community <br />groups and others concerning volunteer services; work effectively with volunteers, management, <br />coworkers, citizen groups, community agencies and businesses; write concise statistical <br />reports; interpret, apply and explain codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; review, discuss <br />and resolve situations related to volunteer management and recommend an effective course of action; <br />knowledge of resources available for coordinating a volunteer program. <br />ADOPTED: <br />02/94 <br />REVISED: <br />07/03; 07/08; 12/09; 07/15 <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
