Performs other duties as assigned. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the department or division manager who sets goals and reviews <br />work. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision is not a responsibility of positions in this classification; however, may provide lead direction. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />Employee is expected to exercise a level of independence combined with professional judgment related <br />to established policy, procedures and guidelines. Work is subject to review by a higher-level accountant <br />or in consultation with the Finance Department. Accountant 1 performs job duties within a select <br />department and is distinguished from the Accountant 2 which functions at a countywide level within the <br />Finance Department. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Reconcile general ledger accounts, initiate corrections, and journal entries. Recommend changes <br />to eliminate reconciliation or adjustment problems stemming from systems, applications, <br />processes, policies or procedures. Assist in the modification or installation of accounting systems. <br />2.May coordinate and review work of paraprofessional accounting and clerical staff in making <br />entries, reconciliations and performing other fiscal record maintenance work. <br />3.Establish and maintain statistical, financial, and budgetary control records; prepare and submit <br />journal entries. <br />4.Learn and apply laws, rules, regulations and fiscal policies and procedures applicable to assigned <br />work functions, programs and/or grants; monitor, coordinate and may recommend adjustments to <br />fiscal systems. <br />http://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID...8/24/2020 <br /> <br />
