Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />5.Assist with audits/review of accounting transactions to ensure compliance with required County, <br />State, Federal or grant program procedures and requirements; examine, analyze and verify <br />documents to ensure adherence to established controls and accepted professional standards; may <br />participate in audit resolution discussions. <br />6.Provide training on spreadsheets, word-processing and data base applications; provide instruction <br />on FIMS and access to database through system inquiry; advise divisions and programs on <br />accounting procedures and deadlines. <br />7.Performs accounting related duties for fixed assets. <br />8.Creates a variety of detailed periodic and annual accounting reports and spreadsheets as needed <br />by department through county software, and other program applications. <br />9.Prepares specialized accounting studies, forecasting, analysis and budgetary requests as <br />assigned. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in accounting, business administration or a related field; <br />OR <br />2.Forty-five (45) college quarter or thirty-one (31) semester credit hours in accounting; AND three (3) <br />years of accounting experience which includes analyzing and reconciling complex financial data <br />and records; preparing financial statements and reports; analyzing and interpreting laws, <br />regulations, codes, and ordinances to ensure the legality of financial transactions; analyzing and <br />interpreting complex financial applications and the relationship with results to the data entered; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures appropriate for use by governmental <br />organizations; knowledge of laws and regulations affecting the financial operations of governmental <br />organizations, particularly those relating to accounting, budgeting, finance and auditing; knowledge of <br />financial computer applications and related software; knowledge of cost and project accounting <br />methodology. <br />Ability to understand and analyze the accounting needs of a large governmental organization; ability to <br />analyze procedures and recommend changes or revisions; ability to transfer or download information <br />between computer applications or environments to provide special accounting analysis and reporting; <br />ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain cooperative <br />working relationships with co-workers, customers and the general public. <br />ADOPTED: <br />11/99; 08/20 reactivated <br />REVISED: <br />07/00; 08/20 <br />MARKET REVIEW: <br />http://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID...8/24/2020 <br /> <br />
