<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Accountant 2 <br />Class Code: <br />035 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$2,055.20 - $2,756.00 Biweekly <br />$4,452.93 - $5,971.33 Monthly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Exempt02 ProfessionalsFinance <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />To independently perform a variety of moderately complex professional level finance and accounting <br />functions; reconciles financial records; reviews accounting entries prepared by accounting personnel; <br />assists in preparing routine financial reports and annual financial statements; performs related work as <br />required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the Controller who sets goals and evaluates performance through <br />review of work and observation of results obtained. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Reviews and reconciles accounting records to determine completeness and accuracy; responsible <br />for reconciling subsidiary ledgers to general ledger. Reconciles general ledger accounts, initiates <br />corrections, makes adjusting journal entries, prepares trial balances, and closes and balances <br />various accounts. <br />2.Reviews journal vouchers and supporting documents prepared by accounting personnel to <br />determine if complete and accurate. Establishes and maintains statistical, financial, and budgetary <br />control records. <br />3.Assists in preparing periodic financial reports for departments. <br />4.Performs specialized accounting studies, forecasting, analysis, and budgetary requests as <br />assigned. <br />5.Performs accounting related duties for capital assets. <br />6.Develops and tests proposed changes to FIMS.Develops and maintains PC-based programming <br />to automate account transactions and reconciliations. <br />7.Assists in the development of user manuals for accounting systems currently in use or to be <br />implemented. Assists in the review of accounting procedures and recommends changes or <br />improvements as necessary.
