<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Deputy Sheriff Trainee <br />Enforcement <br />Class Code: <br />140 <br />Bargaining Unit: 05 - Marion County Law <br />Enforcement Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$22.68 - $29.90 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 04 Protective ServicesSheriff <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Serves in a trainee capacity in patrol, civil or other law enforcement duties. Trainee assignments are <br />limited to a maximum of two years, during which time employees are expected to promote to Deputy <br />Sheriff. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the close supervision of a sergeant who assigns work and reviews performance for results <br />and conformance with current laws, regulations, and department policy. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision is not a normal responsibility of positions in this classification. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Trains in the patrol of roads, highways, business areas, and rivers and lakes in the enforcement of <br />traffic, criminal and marine laws. <br />2.Trains in conducting investigations, interviews, and taking statements. <br />3.Trains in making arrests, booking prisoners, and transporting arrested, sentenced or detained <br />individuals, which require movement to and from County and Municipal jails, juvenile detention, or <br />state institutional facilities. <br />4.Trains in serving legal papers such as attachments, garnishments, summons, and subpoenas. <br />5.Trains in safe operation of firearms and vehicles/boats. <br />6.Trains in serving civil papers and taking possession of personal property. <br />7.Trains in preparing reports and maintaining accurate records as required. <br />8.Assists the public by answering questions and performs routine office work. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />http://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID...9/22/2020 <br /> <br />
