<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Deputy Sheriff Trainee <br />Institutions <br />Class Code: <br />144 <br />Bargaining Unit: 05 - Marion County Law <br />Enforcement Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$22.68 - $29.90 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 04 Protective ServicesSheriff <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Trains to perform professional corrections work of a moderately skilled nature with adult offenders in the <br />corrections program including assistance in the care and supervision of clients at the restitution center or <br />corrections facility. Performs other duties as required. Individuals in this classification receive training and <br />experience necessary to meet the minimum qualifications for corrections officer. Individuals are expected <br />to become eligible for promotion within one year. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under supervision and observation of an administrative supervisor who assigns work, establishes <br />goals, and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification; however, may oversee <br />volunteers, interns, or practicum students. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1. Assists minimum-security staff in the following activities: <br />Conducts security checks of the Center, including occupied sanitation facilities (restrooms, <br />> <br />showers) and living areas; <br />Performs regular security searches of residents and areas occupied by residents; <br />> <br />Inspects Center for needed preventative maintenance and safety hazards; <br />> <br />Maintains log book and records events during assigned shift; <br />> <br />Control visitors and clients during visitation; <br />> <br />Prepares written reports and maintains records necessary to the effectiveness of the program as <br />> <br />required; <br />Operates RAIN/LEDS terminal to obtain background information on clients; <br />> <br />Supervises janitorial and maintenance functions at the Center; and <br />> <br />Relieves other personnel as necessary. <br />> <br /> 2.
