<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Public Information <br />Officer <br />Class Code: <br />092 <br />Bargaining Unit: 13 - Non-Supervisory <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$2,671.20 - $3,575.20 Biweekly <br />$5,787.60 - $7,746.27 Monthly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Exempt 06 Administrative SupportBoard of Commissioners <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />To provide advanced level professional public information, communications, and constituent services for <br />the county; provide professional, timely, accurate information on county operations, services, and <br />programs to the public, media, and employees and to assist commissioners and county departments in <br />doing the same. Perform other related duties as assigned. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the direct supervision of the chief administrative officer who assigns work, provides <br />technical and administrative direction, guidance and performance feedback; receives communications <br />request from commissioners, chief administrative officer and executive level staff. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification; however, provides <br />leadership and guidance for departmental communications staff and others assigned to communications <br />activities. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Ensures county strategies for appropriate internal and external communications are in place, <br />functional and effective which includes but is not limited to: plans, organizes, and disseminates <br />professional, timely and accurate information; proactively identifies sensitive or controversial <br />issues, public interest and reaction. <br />2.Manages, designs, and implements the delivery of high profile communications, marketing, and <br />public relations initiatives using a wide variety of media to include written, electronic, social, and <br />web based formats. This classification also communicates and provides operationally coordinated, <br />relevant, and reliable information to the public, county staff, news media, public agencies, and <br />private organizations. Provide direct assistance to individual commissioners and executive staff <br />with communications strategies; serves as a point of contact for the general e-mail of the Board of <br />Commissioners' Office for complex constituent issues. <br />3.Utilizing effective problem solving methods, resolves constituent issues received by individual <br />commissioners or the Board of Commissioners' Office; provides regular reports to the board of <br />commissioners' office on statistics and types of issues received; proactively identifies subjects <br />http://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecI...10/23/2020 <br /> <br />
