Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />1.Provides day to day management and oversight of department communications, <br />performing independently and as part of a team, using a wide variety of media including <br />written, digital and social-based formats to design effective, appropriate and strategic <br />communication plans and materials. <br />2.Originates ideas for communications; compiles and analyzes information and <br />suggestions; makes recommendations for improvements; maintains subscriptions and <br />inventory of communications materials, such as photographs, for use in media <br />campaigns. <br />3.Works with internal and external resources and service providers to develop and <br />manage coordinated communication strategies, standards, and county branding efforts <br />within the department. <br />4.Gathers, writes, designs, edits and coordinates original news articles, submissions, <br />web content, marketing materials, or printed department newsletters, publications, <br />press releases, and other materials; coordinates distribution of materials, information, <br />etc. to employees, community partners, and the public. <br />5.Adheres to and administers policies, guidelines, and procedures regarding the use of <br />brochures, articles, fact sheets, photographs, video, web pages, social media, graphics, <br />news releases, annual reports, and other materials related to department activities and <br />goals. <br />6.Plans, coordinates, and participates in committees; works with department personnel; <br />coordinates use of appropriate facilities; may assist in development of meeting <br />materials as appropriate. <br />7.Develops positive relationships with the media outlets and peers in other jurisdictions <br />and organizations. <br />8.Represents the department in public settings such as Marion County Fair, job fairs, and <br />other public meetings. <br />9.May act as the department spokesperson, or work with leadership to create talking <br />points on breaking stories, emergency situations, and news features when assigned. <br />Consults with management and subject matter experts to develop strategies for dealing <br />with high profile and sensitive issues. <br />10.Work under the Public Information Officer during emergencies or on specific issues; <br />participates in the Marion County Emergency Operations Center when activated; meets <br />the National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements; participates in <br />exercises and direct the flow of information; may participate in the development of <br />business continuity plans and natural hazard mitigation plans; maintain contacts with <br />interagency emergency preparedness personnel. <br />11.Manages department social media accounts, web pages, and intranet, ensuring <br />accessibility of information. <br />12.Perform other duties as assigned. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing or related <br />field; AND <br />2.Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in public affairs, public <br />information, public relations, media relations, or journalism; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the <br />position, as determined by Marion County <br />> <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID...2/22/2021 <br /> <br />
