NORTH MARION HIGH SCHOOL <br /> <br />MODIFIED 81TUMEN ROOFING <br /> <br />i <br />I <br />i <br />i <br />i <br /> <br />Moppings of hot (at EVT) asphalt shall be continuous <br />and applied at a rate of 26 to 25 pounds per square, <br />Application methods shall insure that all plies are <br />completely embedded in asphalt. All bitumen shall be <br />special steep asphalt~ Type IV~ 220 degrees Fahrenheit <br />softening point. <br /> <br />5, <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />7, <br /> <br />Temperatures at the Kettle shall be controlled so that <br />bitumen temperature shall not exceed the asphalt <br />manufacturer's maximum finished blowing temperature, <br /> <br />All insulation must be covered with <br />membrane system at the end of each <br />roof terminations and openings shall <br /> <br />the completed roof <br />day's worK. All <br />be watersealed. <br /> <br />Thermostatic controls and visible thermometer shall be <br />provided on tanker and/or Kettle, maintained in <br />working order and calibrated. <br /> <br />Foot and wheeled traffic shall be Kept off the newly <br />installed membrane until asphalt has sufficiently <br />cured to prevent displacement voids. <br /> <br />All membrane deficiencies such as voids, bridging, <br />fishmouths~ cuts, tears, etc., shall be repaired in an <br />acceptable manner. Incorporate into such repairs as <br />many plies as are affected by the deficiency. <br /> <br />Air void pockets, as determined by test samples~ shall <br />not exceed eight percent (SZ) per interply mopping for <br />individual sample and average of all samples shall be <br />less than five percent (5~) pep interply mopping. <br /> <br />10. For slopes greater than one inch per foot: <br /> <br />Run all plies parallel to the incline, <br /> <br />b. BacK-nail plies at the leading edge, on centers of <br /> eight feet, into wood nailers. <br /> <br />Nail the surfacing sheet in the leading edge on <br />the centers in (b) above and on staggered six inch <br />centers at each end lap. All nails shall be <br />mopped over with asphalt and covered by the lap of <br />the following surfacing sheet. <br /> <br />D. Apply the Conform surfacing sheet in the following manner: <br /> <br />Starting at the low edge apply one layer of the <br />surfacing sheet, .being sure to maintain three inch- <br />side laps and six inch end laps over the preceding <br />sheets. Cut the surfacing sheet into lengths which <br />conform to nailer sp&cing~ allow to flattens,and flop <br />into a full width mopping of hot bitumen at a rate of <br /> <br />0~514 -13 <br /> <br /> <br />
