NORTH MARION HIGH SCHOOL MODIFtEO BITUMEN ROOFING <br /> <br />All sheet metal that will come in contact wi.th <br />bituminous materials shall be primed with an asphalt <br />primer and allowed to dry before applying bitumen. <br /> <br />Contractor shall install base 'flashings at the base of <br />vertical wall and curb surfaces which abut the roof as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Remove and disgard the existing metal wall <br />counterflashing. Prime concrete surfaces with <br />asphaltic primer applied at a nominal rate of one <br />gallon per 188 square feet. <br /> <br />Install nominal four inch by four inch fiber cant <br />strips at the juncture of all vertical surfaces and <br />roof. Cants may be nailed or embedded into hot steep <br />asphalt. <br /> <br />Embed one ply of granule surfaced Conform modified <br />bitumen base flashing into hot steep asphalt ouer the <br />cant strip~ extending down at least four inches past <br />the toe of the cant~ onto the Pool. Do not extend the <br />base flashing less than eight inches nor more than ten <br />inches up the walls. <br /> <br />Apply the torch-applied APr modified bitumen wall <br />flashing sheet as per manufacturer"s specifications. <br />The flashing membrane shall be of sufficient length or <br />width to extend from the top outside edge of the wall <br />and dOWn to overlap at least four inches over the top <br />of the base flashing. Over wood walls, the modified <br />bitumen shall be torch-applied over a securely nailed <br />28 lb. fiberglass base sheet. One inch head nails <br />shall be spaced no more than 12 inches in ail <br />directions over the base sheet. Any wrinkles shall be <br />cut and renailed to provide a smooth~ secure backing <br />for the modified bitumen wall covering· <br /> <br />Fasten the top edge of the base and wall flashings <br />approximately every eight inches on center with <br />appropriate fasteners through one inch diameter metal <br />discs. <br /> <br />Completely bond all flashing to the underlying surface <br />without any looseness, bubbles or voids. Remove and <br />replace any loose flashings. <br /> <br />Coat the completed wall flashing with an aluminum <br />coating where granule-surfaced sheet is not used, <br /> <br />87514 - 15 <br /> <br /> <br />
