Although it is not possible to accurately predict how long the system wil~
last, with reasonable maintenance and implementation of reasonable water
conservation practices the system should c~ntinue to function properly.
However, if the system should fail it is possible to effect repairs by
adding additional disposal trenches in the limited area between the home and
Filbert Street. Therefore, variance from the above-cite rules is granted on
the condition that the requirements contained in the enclosed schedules are
met.

Pursuant =o OAR 340-71-440, my decision to approve your variance request
with such conditions may be appealed to the Environmental Quality
Commission. Requests for appeal must be made by letter, stating the grounds
for appeal, and addressed to the Environmental Quality Commission in care of
Mr. Fred Hansen, Director, Department of Environmental Quality, 811 SW Sixth
Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97204, within twenty (20) days of the date of the
certified mailing of this letter.

The Marion County Department of Building Inspection is authorized to issue
an ~xthorization Notice, eubject to the conditions within the enclosed
Schedules A and B, upon their receipt of a complete application.

Please feel free to contact me at 229-6443, or toll free 1-800-452-4011 if
you have questions regarding this decision.

Sincerely,

SOO:crw
SD\OSSkWC4958
Enclosures
cc: Richard A.
