BAND FILTER SYSTEM CONSTHUCTION DETAIL SHEET

September 2, 1993

APPLICANT: JOHN M. KAILEY
SITE NUMBER: 93-2718

Your site has been found suitable for a SAND FILTER ALTERNATIVE SEWAGE
DISPOSAL SYSTEM. The following construction specifications shall apply to the
installation of your septic system.

1. The septic tank shall have a minimum liquid capacity of 1000
gallons.

2. The projected daily sewage flow for this project is calculated at
450 qallons per day. Based on soil conditions observed on this
site, the disposal field will be sized at 45 lineal feet per 150
qallons of projected daily sewage flow. A minimum of 135 lineal
feet of disposal field will be required for your proposed develop-
ment. The disposal trenches are constructed two (2) feet wide and
on minimum ten (10} foot centers and with no line exceeding 125
feet in length. The trenches and perforated pipe are installed
level (~1") and contoured to follow the natural ground surface.

The disposal field shall be constructed with egual distribution
with a minimum trench depth of 12 inches and a maximum trench
depth of 12 inches. There must be at least 16 inches of backfill
over the top of the gravel, measured from the natural ground

The sand filter system shall be designed and operated as per OAR
340-71-290 through 340-71-305. Detailed plans for the system must
be submitted prlor to permit issuance. A building permit is
required if a site built concrete box is used as the sand filter
container. A pamphlet is available in our office which details the
requirements for a sand filter system.

An effluent lift pump may be necessary to construct the disposal field
in the approved area and at the correct depth.

A capping fill is required with this system. The system shall be
constructed as indicated on the attached Capping Fill construction detail
sheet.

This approval is site specific to the area tested and the septic system
must be located in the immediate area of the test pits unless otherwise autho-
rized by this office. A new site evaluation may be required if the system is
proposed for a different area on the property.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS~
The drainfields must be constructed within the immediate area of the
southerly test pit on the highest surface possible. Avoid the northerly
pit which is dug within a concave landform. A pre-construction field
stakeout is ~ecommended to establish the locations and elevations of the
individual drainfield lines of both drainfields. Well construction and
all excavation should be deferred pending the pre-construction stakeout.
Refer to the stakeout procedure and the setback list for details to
complete the stakeout. Note, especially the requirement for the dry soil
summer season limitation for the capping fill part of the installation.

THIS IS NOT A PERMIT TO INSTALL THE SEPTIC SYSTEM. DO NOT INSTALL THE SYSTEM
UNTIL A VALID PERMIT HAS HEEN ISSUED HY THIS OFFICE.
