The total cost of the base bids and recommended altemates are shown on
attachment B. As recommended by staff, District participation in the cost of
these altemates would be as follows:
Altemate 1, parlcing expansion to 258 spaces-Transit does not participate
in the construction cost, but purchases 40 spaces from the county at a
prorated cost
Altemate 2, parking expansion to 314 spaces-Transit shares in the
construction cost of the parking for the transit-oriented development site
using the approved cost sharing formula
Altemate 7, relites in County conference rooms-Transit does not share in
this cost
Altemate 9, altemative finishes in County solid waste offices-Transit does
not share in this cost
Altemate 10, grease duct and make-up air unit in transit lease spaces-
Transit cost only
Altemate 11, clock tower pavilion and weather protection arcades-Transit
cost only
Altemate 15, ceramic frit (sunscreen) on transit shelter glazing-Transit cost
only
In the case of altemates 10, 11, and 15, these items are related in design and
function to the bus mall and transit lease spaces, and their costs are reasonably
bom within the District portion of the transit budget.
8. The development team
feels that the streetscape work can more efficiently be added later in the project,
either as a change order or as a separate bid. Streetscape funds will be
available for this addition, under the terms of our agreement with the City. The
fixed seating option needs more discussion with the policy boards, and can
easily be added as a change or separate bid at the appropriate time. The
demountable partition question is solely a County issue.
9. Attachment C presents the Transit District budget for the Courthouse Square
project, as bid. The total project cost is reduced just under $300,000 from the
