Marion County Facilities Master Plan
by a traction mechanism and is slow by toda~s standards. ADA modifications
have been made to one of the elevator's controls and cab.
Corridors Corridors function well and are adequate width. Condition of cotridors
varies, but generally are in good shape.
STRUCTURAL
The six story building is constructed of reinforced concrete with exterior brick
walls. The exterior elevator core consists of precast concrete panels which
were not part of the original building design. The building is well maintained
and appears to be in good condition. No seismic study was conducted,
however it is doubtful that in its current state, it will meet seismic
requirements for an essential public building.
Complete building plans aze available making a structural evaluation possible.
MECHANICAL
The buildings HVAC system has a carrier 5~ BA packaged, water cooled
AC. Unit that supplies air to temunal units installed above the ce'iling on each
floor. Terniinal units have electric re-heat coils. Space above ceiling is used
asretum air plenum. Each floor has its own local controls. Ventilation is
accomplished by the packaged unit bringing in outside air through the exterior
wall. The cooling tower on the roof provides condenser water to the
packaged air conditioning units on each floor. The current system has one
pump.
Plumbing fixtures have been upgraded to meet ADA requirements. There is
a 120 gallon, electric water heater in the basement. Also located in the
basement is a duplex sewage lift pump.
Fire sprinklers are present only in the basement. The exception is a small
portion in the southeast corner that is not sprinUered. There is a local alarm
system for the building.
Page 78
