The courts maintain a conscious <br />effort to treat jurors with greater respect, dignity and sophistication. <br />• The OJD's public education and outreach efforts have underscored to the public the <br />important role of juries, as well as citizens' rights and responsibilities regarding jury <br />duty. Consequently, jurors have become more willing to serve than in the past. <br />ACCESS ~TO JUSTICE <br />Multi-Option Justice <br />[n an integrated system of dispute resolution, citizens can choose from a number of judicial <br />options and legal services available to the public. This multi-option approach has created <br />more satisfied customers. The national pattern of delays in trials, appeals, tack of control <br />and lack of responsiveness does not exist in Oregon. <br />• The courts actively encourage citizens to use the multi-option justice system at the most <br />appropriate level Community Dispute Resolution Centers (CDRCs) are the simplest, <br />most direct and least expensive option for resolving disputes Users retain the right to <br />select the dispute resolution venue of the[r choice. However, as has always been the <br />case, they must pay more for those dispute resolution venues that require more time or <br />resources. The cost assessment mechanism accommodates the needs of lo~~~-income <br />litigants. <br />• The state, the courts and the Oregon State Bar work together to assure that no one is <br />denied access to the most appropriate dispute resolution venue because of inadequate <br />resources. They have also worked together to eliminate social, cultural and linguistic <br />barriers to the delivery of justice and to make justice services available to all persons <br />with disabilities. <br />Community Dispute Resolution Centers <br />Community Dispute Resolution Centers (CDRCs) are the "front door" of the multi-option <br />justice system.
