MEMORANDUM
TO: Randy Curtis
Facilities Management
Marion County
FROM: Lt. Mark W. Caillier
Support Services Section
Salem Police Department
DATE: February 15, 1995
SUBJECT: Facility Steering Committee Recommendations - Comments
Juvenile Facilitv
Should we include information concerning the current and future use of Parole &
Probation (Corrections) facilities (field offices) on this campus if the Public Safety
Facility (Tri-Agency Facility) is not constructed?
Health Buildinq
The current summary reflects a cost of 55.4 million for 29,000 square feet
($186/sq. ft.), and undetermined remodeling costs. Previous information showed
$2.9 million for 20,000 square feet (5145/sq. ft.), with additional new construc-
tion/remodeling at 54.3 million to meet 20-year projected needs. I am uncomfort-
able with the contradicting information and not having nailed down the costs and
options better.
Also,' the expansion of operating hours and days (shift work) was not fully devel-
oped as an option to jncreasing the number of examining rooms and other similar
facilities.
Same concern as stated in Juvenile; i.e. no provision for the space currently
occupied by Corrections if the Public Safety Facility is not constructed.
Dog Control Office
No additional comments.
