~ . <br />~ <br />FINAL REPORT OF <br />FACILITIES 5TEERING COMMITTEE <br />OF MARION COUNTY, OREGON <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Facilities Steering Committee began its work with a general briefing on May 16, <br />1994, and went on to hold more than 25 meetings over the course of 10 months, culminating <br />a final meeting to approve this report on March 15, 1995. <br />In its initial meeting, the steering committee adopted a work plan which called for <br />it to review county goals and objectives, identify cunent problems, review available data and <br />obtain any needed additional information, review and analyze subcommittee reports, identify <br />options, establish priorities, time frames and funding alternatives and prepare <br />recommendations for the Board of Commissioners. <br />The committee performed its work in three broadly defined stages. During the <br />months of May through July 1994, the committee studied the Facilities Master Plan which <br />had been developed by WE Group Planning Team, familiarized itself with existing county <br />facilities and gathered additional background information. From August 1994 through the <br />first part of February 1995, the committee received written and oral reports from the seven <br />subcommittees which had been formed to deal with each category of county activity, and <br />developed preliminary findings, conclusions and recommendations with respect to each such <br />area. Finally, during February and March 1995, the steering committee drafted, debated and <br />finalized this report to the Board of Commissioners. <br />As we have worked our way through the consultant's report, the background <br />information, the subcornmittee reports and the drafting of these recommendations, the <br />steering committee has developed several general observations and conclusions which we <br />PAGE i <br />ksj/cd/Facilities.Int 03/10/95 <br />
