~ <br />FINAL REPORT OF ` <br />FA(~,~'~'S STEERING CONIlVIITTEE <br />OF MARION COUNTY, OREGON <br />INTRODUCTION <br />In 1991, the Marion County Commissioners initiated an in-house review of countv <br />facilities space needs and service demands Durin~ 1992 and 1993 the countv enQaQed a <br />consultant, WEGroup Planners and Architects, to prepare a 20 year master facility plan. <br />The WEGrou~completed its work in Mav, 1994. <br />In order to gain citizen input concernina the county's facilities needs, in May of 1994, <br />tr.e countv commissioners created seven subcommittees to studv the seven cate~ories of <br />courry activities which had been identified in the WEGroup plan: Juvenile Facilities, Tri- <br />Agency Law Enforcement Facilitv, Corrections Facili~es, Health Facilities, Courts <br />Dovmtown Facilities and Dog Control. The commissioners also appointed a Facilities <br />Steerin~ Committee to oversee and coordinate the work of the subcommittees, to receive <br />and evaluate their recommendations, to question their conclusions, to seek resolution of anv <br />conflicts which mi~ht arise amon~ their recommendations, and to develo a nal renor rt tc~ <br />the commissioners reQarding~the implementation of the Master Facilities Plan. <br />~ <br />The Facilities Steering Committee be~an its work with a general briefing on May 16, <br />1994, and went on to hold more than 25 meetings over the course of 10 months, culminating <br />in a final meeting to approve this report on April 6, 1995. <br />In its initial meeting, the steering committee adopted a work plan which called for <br />it to review county ooals and objectives, identify current problems, review available data and <br />obtain any needed additional information, review and analyze subcommittee reports, identify <br />PAGE 1 <br />ksi/cd/Facilities.Tnt 03/18/95 <br />
