,
il y ` asson - e: L C5 ,Requiremenfs ,... . ,. , ., _ ,., , „~,,,.,. ~, ~page
~eeCS~
From: Joel Stirnkorb <joelster@teleport.com>
To: Leonard Lodder <Ilodder@arbucklecostic.com>
Date: Fri, Dec 10, 1999 10:08 AM
Subject: Re: LEED Requirements
Leonard,
The confusion may involve the other elements that are required in the IAQ
Construction Management Plan besides the filters. The plan must also include
the following:
1. Specify construction sequencing to reduce absorption of VOCs by materials
that act as "sinks." (apply wet and/or odor-emitting materials such as paints,
sealants, coatings, etc. before dry/sink materials such as ceiling tiles,
carpets, fabric-covered furnishings are installed).
2. Include construction-related IAQ procedures in the construction progress
meetings.
3. Provide temporary ventilation. Check for possible damage to the system from
high humidity. Use 100% outside air ventilation (depending on climate) with air
exhausted directly to the outside during installation of finishes and other VOC
emitting materials.
4. Check that the maximum outside air ventilation rate does not exceed heating,
cooling, and humidity levels.
5. All coils, air filters, and fans should be clean before testing and
balancing is done and before baseline air quality tests are conducted.
6. Test baseline air quality levels prior to occupancy.
To receive the credit we must submit a copy of the Construction IAQ Management
Plan that includes the above items along with the requirements for the filters.
We must also submit your proposal request to write a plan and include the
filters. As well as, submit information about the filters and filter
management.
I don't think that John understood that he was also suppose to produce a
document that included the above mentioned items and well as the filters. Could
you please communicate this to him. Thank you,
Holly Stirnkorb
Harding Lawson Associated
(503) 227-1326
Leonard Lodder wrote:
> Holly
> I have reviewed the material you sent me. As a matter of course, filters will be replaced before the
> building is handed over.
