~ <br />SECTION 02221 <br />EXCAVATION <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.1 DESCRIPTION <br />~..i~' <br />A. This section covers excavating required for decommissioning or investigating <br />underground fuel storage tanks and for contaminated soil removal or <br />investigations. <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.1 LTNCLASSIFIED MATERIAL <br />A. All material, regardless of its nature, excavated from original ground to the <br />bottom of the excavation, whieh is not otherwise classified in this section. <br />2.2 CONTAMINATED MATERIAL <br />A. All material, regazdless of its nature, from the excavation that contains <br />contaminants above esta.blished cleanup levels as determined by the Engineer. <br />B. Pre-existing drummed petroleum contaminated soil. <br />2.3 PAVEMENT REMOVAL <br />A. Asphaltic concrete pavements excavated full depth, not including aggregate base <br />as determined by the Engineer. <br />2.4 CONCRETE REMOVAL <br />A. Portland cement concrete, reinforced or nonreinforced encountered in the <br />excavation as determined by the Engineer. <br />2.5 UNSUITABLE MATERIAL <br />A. Any non contaminated material from the excavation, including overburden soil, <br />that is not used for excavation stabilization as determined by Engineer. <br />2.6 CONTAMINATED WATER <br />A. Water in the underground storage tank as determined by the Engineer. <br />B. Groundwater in the excavation containing contaminants as determined by the <br />Engineer. <br />Excavation 02221-1 <br />
