'~r/ <br />2.7 TANK PRODUCT <br />~~rY' <br />A. Residual product, sludge, or rinsate in the tanks as determined by the Engineer. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.1 EXCAVATION <br />A. Excavate as required to decommission the underground fuel storage tank. <br />B. Excavate to allow satisfactory prosecution and inspection of project, but so as not <br />to endanger adjacent buildings, structures or foundations. <br />C. Excavate known contaminated soil (defined in Section 01010) under direction <br />from the Engineer, generally excavating to remove the extent of contamination <br />exceeding established cleanup levels. Excavation of soil contamination exceeding <br />cleanup levels located below 12 feet bgs will generally not proceed beyond three <br />feet below the groundwater table (for a maximum excavation depth of <br />approximately 16 feet bgs). <br />D. Investigative excavations shall proceed under direction from the Engineer, <br />generally excavating to a depth of approximately 12 feet below ground surface. If <br />an underground storage tank or contaminated soil is encountered, excavations may <br />extend beyond 12 feet below ground surface. <br />3.2 EXCAVATION BELOW GRADE <br />A. Excavation made below grade inadvertently or without authority shall be restored <br />to grade at no added cost to Marion County. <br />B. Engineer will determine the depth of removal of unsuitable soil. <br />C. Unsuitable material shall be transported to an off-site facility specified by Marion <br />County. <br />D. Pavement removal and concrete removal shall be transported to an off-site facility <br />specified by Marion County. <br />E. Proceed with the excavation of contaminated material only under the immediate <br />direction of the Engineer. Stockpile and cover contaminated material on site <br />pending analytical results from the Engineer. Proceed with subsequent loading <br />and transportation to off-site disposal facility only under the immediate direction <br />of the Engineer. <br />F. Make all arrangements for and transport contaminated material to the Riverbend <br />Landfill. <br />Excavation 02221-2 <br />
