'~r/
2.7 TANK PRODUCT
~~rY'
A. Residual product, sludge, or rinsate in the tanks as determined by the Engineer.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXCAVATION
A. Excavate as required to decommission the underground fuel storage tank.
B. Excavate to allow satisfactory prosecution and inspection of project, but so as not
to endanger adjacent buildings, structures or foundations.
C. Excavate known contaminated soil (defined in Section 01010) under direction
from the Engineer, generally excavating to remove the extent of contamination
exceeding established cleanup levels. Excavation of soil contamination exceeding
cleanup levels located below 12 feet bgs will generally not proceed beyond three
feet below the groundwater table (for a maximum excavation depth of
approximately 16 feet bgs).
D. Investigative excavations shall proceed under direction from the Engineer,
generally excavating to a depth of approximately 12 feet below ground surface. If
an underground storage tank or contaminated soil is encountered, excavations may
extend beyond 12 feet below ground surface.
3.2 EXCAVATION BELOW GRADE
A. Excavation made below grade inadvertently or without authority shall be restored
to grade at no added cost to Marion County.
B. Engineer will determine the depth of removal of unsuitable soil.
C. Unsuitable material shall be transported to an off-site facility specified by Marion
County.
D. Pavement removal and concrete removal shall be transported to an off-site facility
specified by Marion County.
E. Proceed with the excavation of contaminated material only under the immediate
direction of the Engineer. Stockpile and cover contaminated material on site
pending analytical results from the Engineer. Proceed with subsequent loading
and transportation to off-site disposal facility only under the immediate direction
of the Engineer.
F. Make all arrangements for and transport contaminated material to the Riverbend
Landfill.
Excavation 02221-2
