a
Weekly Courthouse Square Staff meeting
~„~. Present: Randy, Elyn, Theresa, Laurie, Bob, Dan
Agenda: Updates from RC
Assignments
FYI
Questions from Staff
General Topics
Demolition/Salvage
Project Schedule
Relocation
Design Status
Adj ournment
Item 1: Updates
Randy indicated that he hopes these weekly meetings could be limited to one half hour each. He will
have four standing topics on the agenda, Demolition/Salvage; Project Schedule; Relocation; and
~ Design Status.
After providing information and updates, he will be giving assignments or asking the status of
assignments. This will also provide staff an opportunity to ask questions on the project.
The meetings will generally be limited to department staff, but the minutes may be fo~warded to
other supervisors as an informational item. The minutes could be e-mailed to the general services
supervisors and Dan Wilson. T'he supervisors may then report information in staff meetings or they
can distribute the minutes to the employees if the information is relevant.
Item 2: Demolition and Salvage
Randy has the Level 1 environmental reports. He gave the reports to Bob. There is a lot of
hazardous materials in the form of ballasts, fluorescent tubes, paint and other things that General
Services generally disposes of on a regular basis. The cost of abatement of hazardous materials may
be several hundred thousand dollars before demolition can begin. Randy would like to know how
much of that cost we can save by doing more of the work ourselves.
ACTION: Randy asked Bob to review the reports and determine if there is anything in the form of
hazardous materials that Facilities Management can begin removing now?
Randy also reported that there is a lot of lead paint and he asked Bob how the lead paint is disposed
of? Is there any special requirements? Bob indicated he did not know, he and his staff were just
~ now learning about lead paint disposal. Bob indicate he would probably not get into the lead paint
removal because of the training and staffing problems.
