Courthouse Square Managers Meeting
~` March 12, 1997
~r~
Present: Bob McCune, Randy Curtis, Elyn Lyon, Linda Millington, Dan Wilson
Randy opened the meeting by reporting that Craig Luedeman has contacted him about office space.
Randy has assigned one of the private offices for his use. Unless he is contacted by a department,
he will not be assigning any offices.
Elyn is taking care of the moving schedule, space allocation and phone and computer connections for
Neighbor to Neighbor and Liberty House.
Microwave Tower: Tom Frey has told us that the county will need a conditional use permit for the
microwave tower. It will take 45 days to process. Randy asked Elyn to find out if we need a permit,
and if so, are there legal ways to get around this requirement.
ACTION: Elyn will determine if we need a permit. If so, she will get Legal involved.
If we do need a permit, we will go ahead with the tower while the permit is in process to stay on
schedule. Randy asked that we inform the involved parties that we are going to put the tower up
without a permit.
ACTION: Elyn will ensure that everyone involved is aware that we are going to proceed with
the tower while the permit is in process.
There was discussion around using fiber optic as the alternative. Elyn reported that Karen Bennett
has been our contact with TCI. TCI has not been responsive to the county's inquiries. Randy asked
for some conversations with Carol about TCI.
Moving Schedule: Referring to Bob's schedule, Randy asked where we are on the schedule and
if it is feasible to meet the schedule. Bob reported that telecommunication and access to the building
are issues. Elyn reported that we also are having problems with US West. They are not giving us
any information on the installation. Other options have been investigated and the only options are
TCI and US West. Randy said that it is important for us to adhere to this schedule, regardless of US
West. We have been told that due to the network, Fiscal and Community Development need to move
at the same time. Bob said that it doesn't matter if we move them together or not. It will still take
a week or more to set them up. These departments are expecting some down time. Bob said that
if they move on Friday or Saturday, it is possible to get the key workstations up by Monday.
Randy said that is not our function to determine how Fiscal handles the move. We need to let them
know when they will move and information on planning to be down. Based on what we know, he
is not certain that we can meet the first week schedule.
~ The moves are a11 scheduled to start on Fridays. We pay the movers regular time on Saturday and
overtime on Sunday. Anything over 8 hours is paid at overtime. The departments involved need to
understand that we are going to phase the move and if necessary the schedule may have to slide. If
