Courthouse Square Manager's Meeting
~ April 2,1997
Present: Randy, Elyn, Bob, Dan, Richard, Peggy
Randy opened the meeting by asking Elyn to introduce Peggy Mitchell to the group. Peggy is
the new Property Clerk and will be assuming support duties for the Courthouse Square Project.
Demolition and Abatement Update:
The bids were reviewed on April 1. Two contractors have been selected. The abatement
contractor will probably be subcontracted to the demolition contractor. The selected bids came
in below the $1.2mi1 that was budgeted for abatement and demolition. The contracts that we will
award are for $750k.
Randy is starting to get inquiries from individuals wanting bricks from the site. Once the
contracts have been awarded, the contractor will be in control of the site. The bids included the
value of salvaging and recycling. As the county's representative, Bob will be in direct contact
with the contractor. David will draft the contract. It will probably be on the Board's agenda for
next Wednesday.
The date for the parking swap will remain the same. If there are changes to the schedule, Bob
will notify Elyn.
Randy said that according to some of the bids they reviewed, the abatement and demolition will
begin with the Community Development building and move clockwise around the block. They
may have to skip a building, and back track later, if some of the tenants do not vacate on
schedule. The Senator parking lot will be used for staging.
Annex:
Bob reported that he has contracted with a carpet cleaning company. They started yesterday and
worked until late in the evening. The telephone switch is on the wall and the phone technicians
are pulling wire. He has hired two temporaries to help. Dan has marked out the storage area.
He'll begin marking out the space allocation for the offices today so they can begin setting up the
partitions.
Bob has reviewed the contract for the Best building and it specifies that we are responsible for
maintenance of the lighting and heating equipment. Frank Dunn has been very cooperative. Al
McCann is putting in light bulbs. Dan walked through with a light meter and they are averaging
sixty candles.
Bob reported that the painting is complete, except the space for Liberty House, Neighbor-to-
Neighbor and in areas where there were large patches. Patty will be painting those areas soon.
~ There was discussion around how the painting and cleaning the carpet has improved the overall
appearance of the office space.
Microwave Tower:
