Courthouse Square Manager's Meeting
,~.~~ 5/21/97
~
Present: Randy, Elyn, Richard, Bob, Dan, and Peggy
Randy opened the meeting discussing the proposed space allocation for Stores/Mailroom
in Courthouse Square. They will be located on the 2nd floor of the north wing on
Chemeketa. Purchasing may reside in this a.rea as well or be located elsewhere. A
freight elevator from the 18` to 2nd floor only has been added to the plan for the exclusive
use of Stores/Mailroom staff.
Update on Sewage Clean-up
Randy asked for an update report on the sewage clean-up costs of the Liu Building and
whether the County was handling this or if Dan Berrey's office would be doing it. Elyn
spoke with Dan and it was suggested that we submit sewer clean-up costs at the same
time the environmental clean-up costs are completed and do everything at once. Dan is
still the agent on the relocation portion of the project and he will handle this piece as
well. Discussions were held about putting Mr. Liu on notice regarding the sewage clean-
up costs. He was aware that there would be environmental costs, but not sewage clean-
up charges.
ACTION: Elyn will work with Dan and make sure that Mr. Liu is notified of costs for
~, sewage clean-up as soon as possible. (Mike Hansen will be writing this letter to Mr.
Liu.)
MARION COUNTY FAIR
Randy received information from Sue McCracken regarding the upcoming Marion
County Fair (sometime in 7uly) and the possibility of having a display for the Courthouse
Square project. We are looking at having the model, plans and/or drawings available and
possibly a couple of brochwes, one targeting retail office space for lease. This could
provide us an opportunity to market retail space for lease and possibly finding an investor
to buy approximately 20,000 square feet of e~ra retail space.
ACTION: Peggy will be our contact person and will work to coordinate this joint effort
with Transit and Dan Berrey.
FLOOR PLANS FOR COURTHOUSE SQUARE
Randy has had a brief ineeting with two azchitect interior designers from Arbuckle Costic
last week. The plan is to set up a meeting (approximately 1 to 1-1/2 hours) sometime
next week for department representatives from all the depa.rtments moving into
Courthouse Square. We will discuss the layout of space, department needs, budget
issues, adjacency requirements, etc. Randy has already gone forwazd in this process by
providing the architect the e~cisting space (square footage) of each department and how
~ Page 1 of 3
