Browns Island Demolition Landfill. If the Contractor's prefecred site is other than Brown's Island
Demolition Landfill, and the County elects to direct waste to the Browns Island Demolition
Landfill, the Contracrors lump sum proposal will be adjusted on a per unit price, by the difference
in the Browns Island Demolition I.andfill disposal and hauling proposal and the disposal and
hauling proposal for the Contractor's prefeaed site per each cubic yazd or ron as appropriate.
Contractors are referred to the project specifications requiring that a recycling and salvage plan be
developed. County will consider the Contracrors disposal plan during the selection process.
11. Shall basement floors and walls remain, and if so are they considered a sufPicient lateral
brace for shoring?
Per the specifications, basement floocs and walls remain if [hey aze necessary for earth support ro
prevent collapse. The lateral bracing for the shoring is part of the bid item and must be designed
by a professional engineer as specified in the specifications.
12. Can concrete rubble be placed against the basement walls for lateral bracing, and is this
method sufCicient to satisfy the contract speci~cations?
Typically conc~ete rubble placed against the basement walls is not sufficient for lateral bracing.
However, as stated in the specifications, a professional engineer is to review the bracing
requirements and submit the bracing for review. If [he engineer determines that the rubble is
sufficient and lays out a method and procedure and seals the drawings then it will be acceptable.
13. Will a bracing schedule be added to the addendum?
Per the bid specifications, the bracing is part of the demolition and is consequently part of the
demolition contractor's schedule.
14. Should the demolition contractor work with the construction contractor in developing a cost
efficient bracing schedule?
This is up to the demolition contractor. What the construc[ion contractor requires is that the walls
be cut off just below grade to allow for efficient excavation. Nothing can be left above grand that
will interfere with excavation.
15. Contractors have requested a list of all contractors who are submitting proposals for this
project to be attached to the addendum.
This list is attached to this addendum.
16. Will all of~ce equipment and debris be cleaned from the ofCice or tenant spaces before
abatement or demalition, or will the demolition contractor be responsible for disposing of all
debris left behind?
Office equipment and debris will be cleaned from the offices and tenant space before the
abatement or demolition begins. Any remaining material is to be disposed of by the demolition
contractor.
Courthouse Square Projec[
pmendment #1
Mazch 24, 1997
