~
centurywest
ENGINEERING CORPORATION
Memorandum
To: David Hartwig, Marion County Date: August 8, 1997
Judy Crockett, Marion County
Mike Staton, Staton Construction C.C.: Kathleen Thorpe, CWEC
Bill Annen, PE, CWEC
From: Geoff Brown Tom Gainer, PE, CWEC
Craig Lewis, Melvin Mark
Subject: Staton Weekly Demolition
Meeting
The purpose of this memorandum is to memorialize the demolition meeting held on August 7, 1997
at the Courthouse Square site. The meeting was a weekly report by Staton on the overall progress and
status of the demolition project.
The meeting was attended by:
~ David Hartwig Kathleen Thorpe
Judy Crockett Mike Staton
Loni Richey
The following topics were discussed and are summarized as:
1. Demolition is progressin~ approximately 1 week behind schedule.
2. Demolition Recyclin is proceedin~ below planned levels. To date, 82.49% of demolition waste
leaving the site has been recycled_ The low percentage is due to the difficulty separating the waste
generated during demolition of the Senator. Much of this waste is going to Brown's Island for
disposal.
3. Staton needs a decision on basement removal from Marion County by 8/11 in order to schedule
needed crews and equipment.
4. We will need to shore the basements for safety either by using demolition debris as shoring or
hauling in fill. Also, we need to provide fencing or plywood walls around basements to prevent
access by the public.
Century West Engineering appreciates the opportunity to provide this information to you. If you have
questions or require additional information, please contact Kathleen Thorpe at (503)_540-0995.
L F A D I N G T H R O U G H E F F E C T I V E S O L U T I O N S
1593 Clay Street NE Salem, Oregon 97301 Phone: (503) 540-0995 FAX: (503) 589-1657
